Stuart Emslie
Stuart is an independent consultant and has worked with the NHS and internationally in healthcare governance, board development, risk management and patient safety since 1990.
From 1998-2002 he was Department of Health head of controls assurance for the NHS in England.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Healthcare Management and a Visiting Fellow at Loughborough University Business School, where he leads a postgraduate ‘healthcare governance’ programme.
He edits a public blog site for board members and senior managers/clinicians at www.healthcaregovernancereview.org
Stuart holds a masters degree, with distinction, in Corporate Governance and Ethics from the University of London and is undertaking part-time doctoral studies exploring the relationship between board and organisational performance in NHS foundation trusts.
In his ‘spare’ time he is CEO of the UK Policy Governance® Association, which is dedicated to building better boards through “promoting owner-accountable, ethical and effective governance using the Carver Policy Governance® model.”
